2008 Jones Family Vineyards Estate Cabernet

“This wine continues the evolution we kick started in 2007. Once again the core of the wine focuses on our youngest hillside block planted in 1998. The exposure, clonal selection and vine spacing of it is producing the most concentrated wine from the estate each year. In 2008, we co-fermented 1.6% of Petit Verdot in with it producing a finished estate bottling that we believe is superior to its predecessor. This wine is all about the purity of its fruit. Starting with notes of crushed blackberries and blueberries, the dark fruit profile continues into a more brooding espresso roast, maple syrup, floral palate that has more grip and length than the Sisters. The 80% new French oak has integrated well since bottling adding a touch of vanilla and lanolin to the finish. This drinks very well young, especially if you value primary fruit power, but it will certainly age gracefully into a broader, more complex bottling that has become the hallmark of the Jones Family Vineyards lineage.”
- Thomas Rivers Brown, winemaker March 2011

“Beautiful aromas of subtle smoke, blueberries and blackberries jump from the glass of this opaque ruby/purple-colored 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon. Graphite, spring flower, blueberry and blackberry notes continue on the palate. Full-bodied with plenty of well-integrated tannin, this big, rich wine should drink well for 15+ years. 94+ points
