“Out of the entire stable of Cabernets I made in 2010, this is easily one of the most successful. Our work began early in the vineyard, and our strategy paid off in the final wine. 2010 was a cool year and most vineyards saw substantial early thinning. Because Jones Family Vineyards is a warm site we opted to leave our vines untouched so they could survive any potential heat spikes and prolong hang time for as long as possible. Bigger crop loads allowed us to selectively thin blocks after an intense heat wave in the third week of August and still ripen slowly through a warm September. The result is our most fully realized wine to date. The 2010 Jones Family Vineyards Estate Cabernet strikes a perfect balance between acid, tannin and fruit and is amazingly polished for a wine this young. It’s the darker fruited sibling of the 2010 The Sisters and comes across as a bit more brooding in its profile. There’s great dimension to the mid-palate with the addition of savory elements of sweet tobacco, graphite and wet stones to complement the classic blueberry, crushed blackberry and black currant fruit notes in the wine.”
- Thomas Rivers Brown, Winemaker, July 2013

“The estate’s 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is more typical of the year in its blue and black fruit, violets, asphalt, graphite and pencil shavings. (T)here is considerable energy and pure minerality to back up the fruit. Graphite, tar and savory herbs add a measure of gravitas on the deeply resonant, pure finish. This is another fabulous, exciting wine from Jones Family. The 2010s have turned out just as great as I had hoped they would based on my barrel tastings last year. Jones Family Vineyards is one of the most exciting emerging properties in Napa Valley today. 94 points.
